Rainwater management

After decades of draining rainwater into the nearest sewer system, preventive measures to store and manage rainwater at the plot level are now being introduced.

In addition to creating greener cities by inceasing soil permeability, the aim is now to infiltrate and store rainwater on a plot-by-plot basis, with an immediate impact: replenishing groundwater and combating flooding. Water agencies are currently launching a variety of aid programs

to encourage the disconnection of rainwater from public roofs. France has now almost universally outlawed the “all to the sewer” policy for implementing new developments.

To respond to the natural process of the water cycle, SOVAL offers roadway castings dedicated to collecting runoff water, equipment for storing rainwater on private property, and products to accompany the construction of storm tanks and retention basins.

  • Cast-iron gargoyles, gratings, gullies and gutters

In many towns, the first point of rainwater collection is the “manhole” at the bottom of the road profile.

We have designed our gargoyles, C250/D400 flat and concave gratings, circular grating covers, and gutters to collect and evacuate rainwater to either your combined or separate sewer system.

Cast-iron covers marked with “wastewater” and “stormwater” flocking also help to identify effluents.

  • Public domain: storm tanks and retention basins

We have created various storm tanks and rainwater retention basins to respond to the most intense rainfall events and avoid polluting the natural environment.

Often invisible to the outside world, these huge retention and storage pits are revealed on the surface by our largest Titan 1000 and 1200 cast-iron manhole covers. Whether ventilated or not, access to tilting troughs, control manholes, or the evacuation of various components (pumps, valves, measuring devices, etc.) requires significant free openings and secure access during the operating phase, thanks to our new grid railings.

  • Towards rainwater disconnection

For developers and homebuilders, we offer dedicated support to help you meet today’s challenges by sourcing the materials you need for your project.

  • Individuals: regulating and storing rainwater at plot level

Through our trade network, we are able to assist you with your most common needs to bring your project to fruition. In the case of detached houses, this generally means purchasing storage tanks or building collection and infiltration systems.
